Cricket Season 2016

01 Apr 2016

After the roaring success of 2015, HWC looks eagerly forward to another new season of cricket. We have set our sights high and sure hope to scale new heights. Needless to say, your enthusiasm and continued support and participation is paramount to help the club achieve another memorable season. With winter whiling-off the backdoor, it hasn’t challenged HWC from playing cricket; as you know the summer of 2015 had a bit of continued cricket action through Winter Nets. We pray the Angels of Weather to be kind on us during week-ends to fast-forward the mini version for yet another interesting new season, here you go!!!

Home Ground

We would like to share that the Brent Council was very helpful in leasing the ground for HWC. Our commitment to cricket has been aptly recognised with Council deciding to lease the North Wembley Sports Pavilion (Sudbury Avenue) as our Home ground for the entire season. No more shuttling between the grounds; all games – one ground – own ground.

Season Start

The first day of the season starts on 01st May 2016 and we are close to tabulating our fixtures and will be available on our website and communicated ahead of the season start.

Subscription

We aim to play our part within the local community to promote and foster the sport of cricket and provide a platform for cricket lovers to enjoy the sport. One of the hallmarks of HWC is that the club has been successful in providing competitive club membership at an affordable price. It is a fine balance and also a challenge to provide a quality environment at reasonable cost. The club stands by its commitment made to its members regarding the 2016 season membership and the management has decided to retain the subscription at £150 for the 2016 season.

It’s our endeavour to keep a healthy budget and financials and to ensure that we are better prepared before the start of the season we urge all members to pay their subscription latest by 15 April 2016. The subscription can be now remitted to the Club’s account directly.

New Memberships

HWC, like any other year is keen to admit new members and you will see our OpsCo member Amit Bharadwaj taking the lead here. We would like you to introduce your friends and refer them to Amit for additional information. All new members will receive the HWC Cricket Whites as is their entitlement and as per the cost regulations.

HWC- In a different League

It’s indeed a very proud moment to share with our members about our selection to the Middlesex Premier Cricket League for their 5th Division. HWC, for the first time was shortlisted among many other teams to represent the league table. Lead by Narayan and Rajneesh, with notable guidance from Sridhar, the winter hunt was a very well-planned and coordinated effort between the Governing Body and Operations Committee to see the application through. It’s an inspiration drawn from the quality of our cricketing talent that has made us believe to apply for the League table. As a matter of fact, we were “head-on” for the 4th League selection with another team in the Middlesex, but we were overlooked as this was our debut into league, while the other has been playing league for quite some time. Now, it’s time to strengthen our spirits and enthusiasm to demonstrate our selection.

Games a plenty!

Given that we will have 8 weeks of League games in our home ground during the afternoons, we have the remaining afternoons to host external teams in our home ground. This means, we have more cricket for our members both in the mornings and afternoons. This is our seeding effort to groom a Pro team for 2017 League table. You will receive more updated information closer to the season. It would be helpful if our members provide us the availability ahead of the season to plan our external games. We will reach out to you during next few weeks to check your availability. Your prompt response to Teamer is vital for your selection!

Training and performance

So get your training boots on and get yourself energised for the new season! We want every member to hit the ground running and make his mark on the game. The awards are there for the taking, old records to be broken and new records to be made!

Captains

The captains for the season will be VC, Rajneesh and Amit. We are also in the process of shortlisting new captains for our Internal and External friendlies. You will hear from us before the start of the season.

We look forward for yet another memorable year of cricket!!!!!
