Match Highlights

Game: SKLP V Harrow Willow Club
Date: 09th July 2017

A bright and sunny day, the game was played at the SKLP home ground, which incidentally hosted a football tournament too, witnessed a crowd of over 500 people yesterday. We couldn't have asked for more audience for our game. Starting at 13:00 Hrs, HWC won the toss and elected to bat. The openers played steady and kept moving the scores till a point wherein few quick wickets got SKLP back to the game. A breezy gift from Varun and a quick fire 19 ensured that HWC post a modest total of 155 in 35 overs. The tea was much needed for the hot day and it was at its best provided by the host. Watermelon and Lassi was available in abundance and heat was fought with the kind hospitality.

Opening the bowling attach with Vijay, the star bowler who has just crossed 100 wickets for his Club across all the games and over the years. He knocked off both the openers and Ketan did share from the other side. SKLP were reeling under pressure with 3 wickets fine for just 8 runs on board. SKLP started rebuilding the collapse but Vijay and Ketan finished their spell of 8 overs each for 39 runs between them.

Anand Kumar and Anand Dhanavel started off the next level of collapse taking crucial wickets and setting up the pressure on the opponents. The final nail on the coffin was the wicket of SKLP captain off the last ball of Anand's Dhanavel's spell. It changed the game. Krishnakumar with his dodgy and unpredictable bowling cleaned up the tail, along with Aditya who castled the eleventh man. The score halted at 113 for SKLP and HWC has beaten the opponents both at home and away games.

HWC believed they could win and every player give their best on the field. Sadiq was all over the field saving boundaries and Aditya Nagalla chasing every ball and stopping the boundaries. The heart and mouth game it was, a memorable win as this, is rare and hence more precious to the players. It was players game and HWC wins the men-of-the match, if so!
