Match Highlights

HWC Tigers 193-10 (27 ov.) HWC Lions 85 -10 (20 ov.)
Venue: Parkfield & Headstone Cricket Club
Toss: Tigers won the toss and elected to bat
Weather Outlook: Sunny (24c)

If it is cricket’s role to offer a morning-longkid and all-consuming escape, it did the job well enough when Tigers met Lions in the 8th Internal Game with Sun Shining on hard pitch at Parkfields. Decent crowd with VIP Entrance’s from Pranesh and his talented son Prateek added to the cheering local crowds – Good Attendance !

This match will be known for partnerships from both teams.

Brilliant batting display from Tarun – Iswar, pair adding first 100 runs partnership @ internal games. Spin Duo. Un-identical Spin twins from both end. Classic Off spinner Sharad and Rookie Leggie Rahul shared 7 wickets between them.

Haradri & Omar Khan lead the pace attach and bowled with lot of control. Haradri bowled with lot of pace and was unlucky on couple of occasions. Early Wicket! Rachit caught by Ankur at point of Omar Khan’s bowling, Lions 8-1 and smell of first success on a sunny morning. Lions couldn’t have asked for a better start. That was probably the last for a while!

Looked like Tarun was batting on different planet, he smashed Amit for 16 of an over ASAwhich included 2 boundaries over cover and lofted SIX towards mid-on. Tarun had every shot in his armoury and executed his inning well to reach 74. Such grace and class in every shot was a spectator’s joy. Tarun tore into the Lions, sending the spectators into ecstasy. With even the youngest spectator Prateek ( Pranesh’ s Son) inside the stadium rooting for Tarun !

Time of Anoop to wear his thinking cap and introduced spinners from both the end. – Brilliant Captaincy.

Wizard of Harrow Willow – Sharad M was in his prime form. Brilliant Trajectory! Flight! Spin! Iswar was gobsmacked by Sharad delivery and it went between his pad and bat. Bowled! Typical Off spinner wicket! He should have got a hattrick but due to lack of technology it went in batsman favour. Hiffzur survived a close one. Sharad end with 4-38.

Introduction of Rookie from another end. A spellbinding debut from Lions spinner Rahulsdsa.png R. He would have had a wicket in his second ball, Omar Khan drops a sitter.

It had to be a super human effort to get rid of Tarun. Rahul bowls half volley and Tarun lofts it over square leg. Air Borne! Superman! One Handed! Omar Khan grabs one of the best catches of the season so far. Rahul Ends his figures for 3-36 .

Lions back into the game and good contributions from Anil and Nitin mean tigers reach formidable total of 193.

Lions batting display was pathetic and looked like they just wanted to have walk in the sadsadpark. Only 4 players reaching double digits. Most of the players top edging on a slow batting track.

Nitin rotating his bowlers well with Jimmy grabbing trio with his slow leg cutters and figures of 3-14. Lions wrapping up for 85, sooner they forget better!

Some Encouragement from Lions Captain. Anoop later mentioned there were some very sadasgood positives to take from this game, the fielding and bowling display was excellent with some good catches held and tight bowling from the spinners.

Its time to say goodbye from me. I will be back next week for all the updates from Parkfield. Astala Vesta!!!
